The Martin County Library System is excited to celebrate the return of the Chautauqua South series. Make plans to attend one of the many lectures on topics ranging from seahorses to the New York World’s Fair. These informative and engaging events take place weekly through the month of April throughout the six Martin County libraries.
For over two decades, this arts and education series has taken inspiration from New York’s Chautauqua Institution. These events promote the love and appreciation of the many forms of creative expression that can be used to illuminate the human experience. Within these pages, you will find the opportunity to connect with talented musicians, knowledgeable professors, brilliant entertainers and gifted artists.

ArtsFest, A Celebration of the Arts

The 28th annual ArtsFest, A Celebration of the Arts, is a fun and interactive outdoor art festival for people of all ages. This outdoor arts event includes a juried exhibition of 125+ outstanding fine artists and features activities which include live entertainment, artist demonstrations and interactive art activities for youth. This event kicks off on Friday night with ArtsFest After Dark, a fun “pop up” art and food event, Friday March 27, 2015 from 7-11pm next to the courthouse cultural center.
The remainder of the ArtsFest events take place Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29 along East Ocean Boulevard and Memorial Park, located in Stuart, Florida.
The Arts Fest is organized by the Arts Council of Martin County and features fine artists and crafters in a juried art show. The downtown festival brings out more than 15,000 people into the heart of Downtown Stuart for fun, food, entertainment, and fine art and amazing crafts from all over the world.

Barley Barber Swamp Tour

Description: Tuesday, March 24th at 8:30 a.m., join the Hobe Sound Nature Center for a visit to Florida Power & Light's BARLEY BARBER SWAMP. Hike along the boardwalk through the heart of a 400 acre cypress preserve with a guide from the Treasured Lands Foundation. Reservations are required and must be made in advance. A carpool will leave the Nature Center at 7:30 a.m., arriving at the Seminole Inn in Indiantown by 8:30 a.m. Participants will travel by bus to and from the swamp.

Indiantown Boats and Motorcycle Rally

Naturalist Led Refuge Trail Hikes at the Hobe Sound Nature Center

No reservations are required to explore native habitats at the Refuge with a naturalist. Meet in the exhibit hall to learn about the flora and fauna that call the Indian River Lagoon, coastal hammock and sand pine scrub their home. Keep an eye out for gopher tortoises, scrub lizards, manatees, eagles, ospreys and other birdlife along the way!

Description: The Barn Theatre's presentation of Nunsense, the Musical opens March 6th and runs thru March 22nd. I know you will enjoy the singing, dancing, tapping and frolicking between five funny and delightful nuns. You don't have to be Catholic to enjoy this show. Anticipating large audience interest, The Barn has added a Saturday, March 14th 2PM matinee. We are promoting this matinee for groups and organizations.
